icare Announces New Worker’s Compensation Education Program

May 23, 2022

New South Wales state insurer icare has partnered with the Personal Injury Educational Foundation (PIEF) to establish an educational program for workers’ compensation claims professionals as part of its framework of professional standards.

The project aims to promote the career progression of workers’ compensation claims professionals to ensure that they can achieve appropriate outcomes for their clients.

As part of the next phase of the framework, it intends to focus on the accreditation pathway for claims management professionals with greater access to certificate-level learning.

icare intends to use qualitative professional education to reinforce the practices and skills embedded in its framework.

CEO and MD Richard Harding says improving the skills of claims handlers will lead to better outcomes for workers.

“Caseworkers are the foundation of our injured worker support system, and they play a critical role for individuals in providing care and returning to work,” Harding said.

“The PIEF-guided enhanced learning suite will help our sector retain experienced caseworkers and attract talented newcomers to rewarding careers.

“This is a significant step forward in improving the performance of the entire industry.”

icare announced in November last year that the framework had been developed with several government and regulatory agencies as well as claims service providers and industry research.

PIEF CEO Noel Lyons says the organization is honored to work with icare to provide educational standards that promote fair and consistent outcomes for workers.

“There are strong synergies between PIEF and icare, as we both share a commitment to enhancing the capabilities of workers’ compensation claims management professionals and providing the highest levels of service to injured workers and their families. employers.

“Our mission is to empower our industry to provide competent and compassionate care, and this important program of work will help claims professionals do just that through industry-leading training and career guidance.”
