COLUMBUS, Georgia (WRBL) – If you still need to send a gift to a loved one before the holidays, leave as soon as possible. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some people still do not travel to see their loved ones during the holiday season and find themselves shipping gifts.
Matt Rendina has worked at UPS in Columbus for two years, where he says they experience the typical influx of customers and packages during the holidays. While the holidays are always a busy time, Reninda says this year is different from last year: “It was around mid-November that we started to pick up and more and more people started coming. look for things before the holidays, because last year it was like the first week of december when we just got slammed.
On December 13 alone, nearly 1,000 packages passed through UPS on Bradley Park Drive.
With this influx, delays are to be expected. FedEx, UPS, and The United States Postal Service recommend using their online tracking services to track the progress of your packages as phone lines are extremely busy.
For people still looking to ship packages in time for the holidays, ground shipping is no longer guaranteed by Christmas, but UPS associates say you still have time: air, gonna be the only way to ensure your stuff arrives before Christmas and on time.
Shipping services want to do their best to get your packages to where they need to be on time, but seek the cooperation of customers.
“If you are in line and wait and impatient and stressed, that will only make us more stressed and only make it harder for us to do our job… give us a little courtesy , we are working our best to do what you all need.
